Sewing Rest!

I'm on a much needed sewing rest. With Christmas and the Craft Show... my little sewing machine feels like a worn out mattress at the Holiday Inn.  I'm thinking I should take it to some sort of sewing spa and get it some much deserved pampering! Poor lil thang!

What I DID do over the holiday season is make up a pattern for a yoga bag, with the help of my friend Melissa Hunter from Oceanfront Yoga.  I know nothing about yoga, except for what I try to dabble with on the Wii Fit. We went through 2 or so prototypes, and this is what we came up with. It's big enough for one of those 50 lb, heavy duty, industrial, I don't know how you carry this around yoga mats, pleated pockets so when you mat stretches your bag out, you still have room to put your water bottle in, cigarettes, and a happy meal. Oops. That's not very OM... And as a little bonus, a swivel key clasp inside. Likey?

 

1st Craft Show!!!

Well, I had my first craftshow and my friend's elementary school. Super crazy getting ready, but well worth it. I learned alot and made some good-vendor friends. Still funny thinking myself as vendor. I can't wait for the next show!

Oh I know... Bad blog writer! Bad blog writer!  It's been somewhat crazy at our house. I'm getting ready for my first craft show! It's a small but quaint venue at a friend's son's elemetary school. Still very exciting. I think it will be a great learning process!

Okay- So I know there were only two of you which makes for good odds. :) But when I did the random generator, it chose the #2. Congratulations Katie! Would you like an origami bag like the one that is in Amy Butler's new book? Or a quilted pot holder?

I will try to get some pictures up of our craft show makings!

I've been on a little bit of a winning streak lately.  First I won Toy Story 3 tickets, American Food Fest tickets, and now... the one I'm MOST excited about...  SIGNED COPIES of Amy Butler's Style Stiches and Little Stiches for Little Ones.  Check it out here.  I'm just overly excited about this!!!  Along with Heather Bailey, Ms. Butler has got to be one of my favorite fabric designers!!! 

Just finished my contribution to Sew Mama Sew's Super Bag Swap.  Can't wait to post it. The pattern was some what of a difficult one, but I LOVE the outcome. Can't wait to make one for myself.

So... since I've been lucky lately, I thought that if anyone reads this.. I'd give them a chance to get lucky too.  Just let me know know if you buy handmade for the holidays and what did you buy? I will pick a winner this Friday (October 29) using the random generator. Good luck!

Quilted Table Runner

Just in time for Easter... ha ha..

I've had this fabric in my stash for a while.  Probably since last Easter. So, when my boss asked me if I wanted to donate anything to the Atlantic Wildlife Heritage MuseumAuction... this is what I came up with. I figured the age of people going aren't going to want embroidered sandwich bags or wristlets. So how about a nice quilted table runner? Just in time for Easter. :)

So, when my son has football practice, the crazy mom climbs in the back-back of the truck and plugs in her sewing machine and starts sewing.  (I love the car-plug adapter! )

I haven't been on here in a while! Just so busy lately! But here's some pics of what I've been up to. For the sandwhich bags, I just copied a regular sandwhich bag on a piece of newspaper, gave it a 1/4" seam allowance. Let me know if you'd like a tutorial. :)

I've been a little busy hosting a crawfish party and several going away parties, but I wanted to show you (if anyone) a previous quilt. Out of all the ones I've done so far, this is my favorite. I just like the simplicity of the pattern. I know I got the idea from OhFransson, and I know I switched it up a little, I just can't remember how or what I did.  So... starting now, I'm going to start jotting my ideas and changes to a pattern in a journal. Every project I do will be recorded.  Hey, maybe my next project will be a journal.
